Jorge Pardo artworks and editions
The contemporary artist Jorge Pardo was born in Havana in 1963 and moved to the USA with his family when he was six years old. Pardo studied at the University of Illinois in Chicago and graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
Since the 1990s, Jorge Pardo has been working on highly individual work that starts at the point where art, design and architecture intersect. In his artworks and editions, he uses natural and industrial materials and eclectic patterns filled with bright colours. His multi-layered oeuvre encompasses paintings, sculptures, wall paintings and even furniture and entire building designs. During his creation process, the artist focuses on the producing multiple meanings or contexts and invites the viewer to constantly re-evaluate his images, objects or buildings.
Jorge Pardos’s artistic work has been the focus of numerous solo exhibitions at international art institutes. Today the artist splits his time between New York and Mérida, Mexico.
