Biography

The contemporary painter Tatjana Doll was born in Burgsteinfurt in 1970. In the late 1990s, she completed her studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy as a master student of Dieter Krieg. Between 2005 and 2006, she held a guest professorship at the Weißensee Art Academy in Berlin.

Doll's paintings and works are often characterized by their impressive sizes and strong, clear colors. She incorporates everyday objects - such as toys, tools, containers, or traffic signs - and presents them in a new context or scale, prompting viewers to observe these objects from fresh perspectives and contemplate the socio-political contexts. Her paintings, often using vibrant, bold colors, play with the concept of iconography and investigate how everyday objects can be transformed into cultural symbols.

Doll's work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Today, the painter resides and works in Berlin and Karlsruhe.
