Walter Stöhrer

The German artist Walter Stöhrer is said to be one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. After finishing school, he underwent a training as a commercial artist and subsequently studied at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe under HAP Grieshaber together with Horst Antes. After his studies, he moved to Berlin and obtained a guest professorship at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin that turned into a full professorship in 1986. While he was still alive, the Walter-Stöhrer-foundation with archive and collection was founded in 1999.
