Anna and Bernhard Blume were a German artist couple. Together they have created an extensive body of photographic work characterized by a combination of motifs from everyday life as well as humorous references to art history. Biography

Anna Blume was born in Bork/Westphalia in 1936 and Bernhard Johannes Blume in Dortmund in 1937. In the 1960s, both met each other during their studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. 

The artist couple Anna and Bernhard Blume are particularly known for their conceptual photo sequences and photomontages, which are often humorous and surreal stagings of everyday life. Their works are characterized by a particular depth and ambiguity that is both humorous and critical. They offer a critical examination of society and the role of the individual within it. With their unique approach, they have made an important contribution to photographic art, pushing the boundaries between reality and fiction, art and everyday life.

Anna and Bernhard Blume have received numerous awards throughout their careers. Their works are represented in many important collections and museums worldwide. After the death of Bernhard Blume in 2011, Anna continued her artistic activity. In 2020, she passed away in Cologne at the age of 84.
